Polka Dots With A Flare

DIY Circle Skirt

Hello and Happy Monday!

Who doesn't love a circle skirt? It's so fun and so girly, and since it's been such a long time since I last made one for myself, I decided to make another! I used this gorgeous royal blue satin I purchased recently from one of the stores on Fabric Row, in Center City Philadelphia.
(If you're not familiar with Fabric Row, see HERE for a post I did on it about a year ago.)

Throwback: Purple Peplum

Ankara Blazer, Ankara Peplum Blazer

When I got this fabric from my mom, yellow was the only color that I thought to combine it with. I've always thought purple and yellow are such a perfect color combination, and this blazer proves it!

This is the last of the Ankara blazers I made last fall. This one like the others was made using the New Look A6231 pattern, with alterations to the collar and peplum (mentioned previously here and here respectively)

Throwback: "Star Blazing"

Ankara Blazer, Ankara Peplum Blazer

Hello again!

Today, I continue my throwback series of Ankara Fall blazers from last year. Here's another blazer I made using the same New Look A6231 pattern. The only difference is that I made this one with a square-cut "handkerchief" peplum instead.

Throwback: Ankara Fall Blazer

~ Pattern Review ~

Ankara Blazer, Ankara Peplum Blazer

Hello!

So, as it turns out, this week officially marks the end of Summer. I can tell that fall is definitely here, because our morning walks to the school bus are a lot chillier.

About this time last year, I was on a blazer-making mission! Haha! I was so busy, I never got around to blogging about them. So, this week, I will be sharing all the blazers I made in the Fall of 2014 using the New Look A6231 pattern.

Transitioning...

~ Pattern Review ~
McCalls M6172

Ankara Sleeveless Blazer

Another transitional piece that I think is great as the weather starts to cool down is the sleeveless blazer. I made this one (last seen here) in the summer last year as part of my Fruits and Fashion seriesI don't know why it has taken me this long to think of making another one. I definitely need a few blazers in my closet, and this one is a perfect fit!

Illusion

Ankara Tube Dress

Happy Monday! Hope you're enjoying your Labor Day holiday today. I plan to chill with my husband and little ones, probably watching something fun on Netflix.

Speaking of Netflix, recently, my hubby and I watched the miniseries "Houdini." Quite intriguing, the legendary magician, Harry Houdini. To think that most times, a so-called trick is just an illusion... Gives meaning to the phrase "The more you look, the less you see."

Cherry Blossom Kimono

DIY Kimono

Hello September!

Fall is almost here. Although summer is my favorite season, I love fall too...except for the fact it leads right into the winter.

The beginning of fall usually means cooler mornings and evenings. And that, in turn, translates to dressing in layers. A kimono is a perfect item for transitioning into the cooler weather. Easy to layer, and very versatile.
