Airport Style + Tips for Traveling Alone with an Infant

Airport Style, Tips for Traveling Alone with an Infant

Hey y'all! Happy new week!

Yesterday, we celebrated our 11th year Anniversary at Love Assembly, and as always, it was such a great time fellowshipping with the brethren in the presence of The Lord!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I traveled alone with my 4 month old to Texas a couple of weeks ago for a wedding (Hubby stayed back home with my 6-year-old and 4-year-old). Traveling alone with a baby can seem overwhelming, but with the right things in place, it can be fun, for both you and your baby. Despite the fact the I forgot my phone before traveling (read about that here), it was still a great experience.

Here are a few tips from my recent experience.

Hello! And Happy Thursday!

It's so good to be back home after being away for 5 days! It feels it's been a while since I last blogged (I actually only skipped Monday). It's been a busy past few weeks for me.

About a week ago, I traveled to San Antonio, Texas for my FAVORITE cousin's wedding! It was a long trip, and I went with my 4 month old. Late night flights, two-hour layovers, the wedding, road trips, going and back, and this little lady was such a trooper! She was the sweetest little girl, and she stole the hearts of EVERYONE with her beautiful smile! I thank God for journey mercies, and for blessing me with such a sweet baby!

Just wanted to share a few pictures with you all.

Enjoy!

"Reminiscing in Gingham..." - DIY Tea Length Dress

If you ever schooled in Nigeria (or perhaps, any other country in Africa), "gingham" should be quite familiar to you. At my school, we all wore royal blue gingham as part of our school uniform. And as "boarders" (boarding students), we wore different colored "check" for different "houses" as our "house wear" (I was in Emotan House, and so I wore green gingham).

My alma mata has changed a lot since I was last there many years ago (Class of 2003), but I'll never forget the experiences I had while attending Queen's College. My favorite principal was Mrs. Sojinrin, and I'll leave you with one of her favorite quotes, one that has stuck with me over the years:

"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."

Happy Thursday!

Happy Monday!

We celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday on Saturday with a few family and friends. I'm super exhausted today, but it was fun, and she enjoyed herself thoroughly! So, it's well worth it! I'll share pictures soon!

Double Take

It's been quite a week over here at the Ofoegbu residence... Our house is filled with all things Hello Kitty, because someone is getting ready to turn 6! Ah! Where did the time go?! Here's a gentle reminder to cherish every moment because they don't last forever!

Happy Thursday!

"Seeing Circles" - Button Down Side-Slit Ankara Tunic

My Style Oasis, Button Down Side-Slit Ankara Tunic

So, I've been sitting on this Ankara fabric for quite some time. My mom sent it to me almost 2 years ago, and after tossing around several ideas in my mind on what to make with it, I finally settled on this sleeveless button-down tunic. Easy to throw on and still look chic at a moment's notice...because that's what moms do!

Happy Monday!

"Measure ONCE, Cut TWICE" - DIY Ruffle Sleeve Tank Top

My Style Oasis, DIY Ruffle Sleeve Tank Top

There's a saying in the world of sewers: "Measure twice, cut once..."

Meaning there's only one chance you get to cut your fabric, so make sure you measure properly and accurately because once you cut, you can't "uncut."

Well, for me, it ended up being "Measure once, cut twice." That's how I came about this top! I had originally intended to make a pencil skirt with this red knit fabric from OnlineFabricStore.net as I mentioned in my Fabric Haul video. In fact, I actually cut and sewed the side seams of the skirt...and then, after trying it on, I changed my mind, and decided on a whole new look! I prefer this much better!

Moral of the story: If you start something and it doesn't seem to be working out quite right, that's ok; just go back to the drawing board and try again! You just might love the new result!

Happy Thursday!

"THE DAVIVA DRESS" - Collared Ankara Dress

My Style Oasis, Ankara Dress

You asked, I answered!

On Friday, I posted a "work in progress" picture on Instagram of something I was making using some pink gingham fabric from my recent fabric haul. I got a lot of positive feedback. And so, I have decided to add this dress to my online store! Stop by and check it out!

Happy Monday, and Happy New Month!
